SHE'S A VERITABLE HELL-RAISER

Reliable? Trouble-free? Don't make me laugh, Pascoe!

Arabella's a minx!

I'll treat her to a thorough drenching on your recommendation, though.

That is just plain spooky - I have just come out of GW.com in a huff over that very same article! Trouble free? What about the mildew it's got in my garden at the moment then?

that's what comes of buying something that's not from Raymond, if you don't mind me saying.

Hmm I've a gripe about Raymond too - my Crystal Fountain doesn't look like the photo on the label. Still a very floosy like and lovely Clematis, but not the one I'd imagined.

I'm going through all the Clematis websites to see if I can find out which one it is before I blog about it. However, it looks like Josephine (which I also have)can be a bit variable in her character, so I'm wondering if CF's the same.

She's a real beauty isn't she!!

I bought Fond Memories from Sheila Chapman at Hampton Court. The woman on the stall was a proper grump! She sold the one I had picked out to someone else - I didn't realise as I thought she was serving me! I bought Warsaw Nike from Priorswood Clematis and the man there was lovely and explained loads of things about clematis to me that I never knew before!

Did you know that in a poll of the most hated clematis 'Smelly Noser' was tops?

Aren't clematis a bit weird at changing colour if they are in slightly too bright / too shady conditions?

I'm sure sometimes plants must have the wrong labels on, though, mustn't they?

Sheila Chapman herself I thought was totally adorable when I met her at Chelsea. I wonder if it was the same woman. All that rain could probably drive you to distraction I suppose

Most of the time she is Arabella, so much so I seem to have 3 of you in my garden. I'm a victim of replacement plants from GW freebie plant offers - so you're up an obelisk and draped over a trellis in my back garden and over an archway in the front...

Sheila is actually a most delightful lady. If only all Sheila's were like that cobber!

Clem. Arabella is quite deep if you view it on nightfall. Otherwise......

The best clem site is maybe the Hull.ac one?
